Why sleep in an organic bed?

We have three different types of mattresses in our store for you to try out and we'll help you find the right firmness for your needs.

Conventional mattresses contain petrochemicals, toxic fire retardants and synthetic materials such as polyurethane foam which can create conditions for mold and dust mites. These chemicals off-gas and create toxic fumes that you or your baby will breathe while sleeping. A study in New Zealand has linked these chemicals to SIDS. A recent article published in the Los Angeles Times warned of the damage that these chemicals can cause to a developing fetus.

Conventional mattresses also may also contain metal inner springs which can attract and radiate electromagnetic fields. These conditions can impact your sleep and overall health.

When babies are sleeping they are literally rebuilding and growing, so it makes sense to create the most natural and nurturing sleep environment possible.

Our organic mattresses are manufactured in the USA. Plush yet firm, they are made with a core of 100% natural latex from the rubber tree which replaces conventional metal bedsprings--this means no pressure points to interfere with your sleep and no sagging. Our latex is third party tested for purity and contains no clay, sand or other fillers. The core is then surrounded by organic cotton batting and 100% Pure Grow Wool. The cotton adds additional plushness while the wool resists dust mites, naturally stabilizes body temperature, and wicks away moisture from the body to prohibit the growth of mold and bacteria. All of these factors add up to a safe, restful sleep experience. This combination of latex, cotton and wool, quilted to organic cotton fabric, delivers a uniquely calming, floating, nurtured feeling that will help you and your baby get the best sleep possible.

Our bed systems (mattresses, bed toppers, pillows and comforters) are made of the following healthy materials:

• Organic cotton coverings and batting: free of dyes, bleach, pesticides and flame retardants.
• Pure Grow Wool™, batting: free of dyes, bleach, pesticides and flame retardants, our wool is naturally flame retardant, repels dust mites and mold. Insulates without overheating.
• Great for people with allergies and asthma.
• Latex Core is 100% pure. No sand, clay or synthetic fillers are added to this natural, sustainable resource from the rubber tree. Our latex does not contain silica, vanillin, boric acid, benzene, toluene or pthalates.
• Solid wood “foundation” replaces the box spring (NO plywood or particleboard with toxic glues are used). There are NO metal coil springs to attract or radiate electromagnetic fields (EMFs).
